St. Michael' s School Library has more than 4,000 books and student references, including videos and dvds for use in the classroom. Classes have scheduled library visits each week. The library is open to the students during every school day, when not in use. Research and quiet reading are encouraged.
TAKE CARE of the library books. Books are like our friends.
RESPECT teachers, fellow students and even yourself. Use polite words like "Thank you," "Please," and "Yes Sir."
RUN and PLAY on the playground, NOT in the library.
ASK to use the computers. You must be monitored while on the Internet by an ADULT.
READ not just books and other resources, but also the "room." What is happening in here"? What should I do?
RESPOND and be responsible for you actions at all times.
QUIET in the library is required at all times. If a disturbance occurs, the student will be sent out of the library.
LIBRARY BOOK CHECKOUT POLICY
A student is allowed to check out two books per week. All books taken from the library must be signed and dated for the date due. They may be rechecked if necessary. A late fee of 10 cents a day will accrue after the eighth day. In the event the book is lost or ruined, the cost of the book will be charged to replace the book.
Reference books and magazines are to be used in the library unless special permission is given to take them to a classroom. Under no circumstances will students be allowed to take any reference or magazine material home.
Students are encouraged to check out books appropriate for their reading levels.
END OF SCHOOL YEAR
All books checked out by students and teachers should be due back to the library the first week of May.
